Original Pastel Painting – Golden Sands

£450.00

I’ve been working in Soft Pastel for many years, they are the purest form of pigment and create vibrant artworks that are luminous. The velvet finish of pastels means that the usual glare of a painted surface is avoided and that creates an artwork that can be viewed easily as you gaze it from across the room. Artwork for me has always been about catching a view, creating a window onto somewhere you’d like to be. This beautiful escape creates a gorgeous view, especially of an evening when the colours are bathed in the golden light of the sunset.

Description

Golden Sands –

Sandbanks Beach, the inner harbour, one of my favourite walks. I love the light on the water and that stunning golden sand on a warm evening. Brownsea looks gorgeous in the distant view.

It is from my travels to Sandbanks, during this Summer, stolen beach walks, late evening to avoid the crowds.

This original pastel is mounted to fit a 20×16 inch frame. Its mounted in an off white 4cm wide mount.

I’ve been creating weekly online demos for my regular art students since lock down began. At the start, I had no experience of online teaching, now I’m running workshops each week and delivering online tutorials for my students. I’ve been encouraging my students to look through old photos for inspiration, for views they’d like to be in. It’s been a great theme and led to a ‘holidays at home’ partnership with Studland National Trust.
These original artworks wouldn’t have existed without lockdown, the support of my students and a determination, to ‘keep on colouring’.
