Description
At the Allotment – Soft pastel online workshop
Autumn allotments are full of wonderful painting subjects – brilliant flowers, old wood, glass and those slightly untidy arrangements that make a scene feel full of character.
For this workshop we’ll paint a colourful arrangement of dahlias alongside a shed and greenhouse.
It gives us the opportunity to explore several very different textures within one painting without becoming caught up in every tiny detail.
During the workshop we’ll explore:
- simplifying the shapes of flowers
- creating colourful dahlias without painting every petal
- weathered wood and rougher textures
- reflections and transparency in glass
- balancing structure with loose pastel marks
- bringing several different elements together into one composition
When: Tuesday 6 October, 10am–12pm UK time
Where: Live on Zoom
Recording: Available within 24 hours, with access for at least 12 months
Work along with me live or return to the recording whenever it suits you.
A lovely workshop if you enjoy colour, flowers and discovering how different surfaces can be suggested with pastel.
