What sets my workshops apart?

It’s not just about mastering techniques or replicating scenes; it’s about discovering the artist within you. I delve into the heart of creativity and soft pastels, exploring their nuances while sailing through picturesque landscapes and capturing the essence of the sea. What makes these workshops truly special is the sense of community we enjoy, where artistic souls from around the globe come together, inspired by the coast, landscape, the sea, and the boundless possibilities of art. So, if you’re seeking more than just a class, but an adventure where your creativity will be nurtured, you’ve found your artistic haven right here. Here’s what’s on offer.

Here are two videos to watch, they will give you some good ways to explore the media. I’ve written an introduction to my process here.

When you have watched these free videos, you’ll be ready to start happy pastelling and I just know you’ll love it!

One to one teaching

I love helping my students achieve their goals. So that I can give constructive and in depth feedback, I charge for my time. I have a limited number of sessions available each month. Please email and request to be added to the waiting list.

Constructive feedback on an artwork via email is a great way to gain feedback. I charge £30.00 per artwork, you will receive feedback and a 5 point action plan for you to progress.

One to one video call. We can discuss your current artwork, targets and a bespoke plan for your artistic development. These consultations start at £60-00/hr.

If you are accessing my workshops, I offer a reduced rate for Group Video Feedback sessions with fellow members of the session. I encourage people to create artwork using the skills that I teach through a workshop on a similar theme. These will be offered to members at the end of the session.

Please get in touch to discuss how I can help you progress.

New to Soft Pastels beginners workshop

If you are a beginner, I suggest that you start with workshop Number 1

I suggest creating images that you find appealing, you’ll enjoy the process of learning so much more. Although each workshop is self-contained, I have structured them progressively so that they can be taken together as a course. Otherwise just look through the series and find a workshop that inspires you! If you’re keen to learn then you can book all 10. Working with a theme is one of the most effective ways of re-enforcing your learning and seascapes are brilliant for building confidence and developing your skills.

Each of workshop is a full length pre recorded demonstration of my creative process and a lesson in pastel painting. These newly developed videos are designed for you to paint along to at your own pace. They’ve taken me approximately an hour to create each artwork, though you should leave yourself a little longer to create your own version. Take regular breaks. You can pause or rewind each one and play it as many times as you like. The lessons are deliberately slow paced, so that you can see, understand and absorb each detail as you create your own artwork. As I work, I share with you a progressive series of tips and tricks to help you develop your technique and confidence.
