Evening walks in soft pastel workshop

£22.00

Evening walks is the seventh in my Autumn Series of online soft pastel workshops for 2025. It’s live on Zoom on the 16th December, 10 am – 12 UK Time, or catch up using the recording.

In this session, I’ll be sharing more about where I find inspiration and how everyday countryside scenes can spark new creative ideas.

This image gives us a wonderful opportunity to discuss composition, atmosphere, and how to use negative shapes to build convincing form. The gentle light of an evening walk adds mood and warmth — we’ll explore techniques for capturing that glow effectively in soft pastel.

Cows are often part of our local landscape and make such characterful subjects to draw. I hope this workshop will inspire you to explore your own countryside and perhaps find a herd of your own to capture.

Description

It’s all recorded so you can repeat and work at your own time and pace. When you buy the workshop, please access the link within the website receipt for more information in your account on my website.

You can paint along with me or just watch me and absorb the process to repeat at a later date. I suggest watching and drawing a second time, as it’s hard to do both things well, in my experience. I’m using ( approx 20 x 30 cm ) Uart 400 but you can use Pastelmat for a similar effect and Unison Colour pastels, learn more about the workshops here. You don’t have to use sanded papers but they make a huge difference to the vibrancy of your artwork when used with good quality pigments like Unison Colour.
