Description
Evening Warmth – Online soft pastel workshop
There is something irresistible about warm lights appearing as daylight fades.
For this workshop we’ll take a little creative trip to Spain and paint the welcoming glow of an evening restaurant scene.
The real subject is light – how a few areas of warmth can transform a painting and create a wonderful sense of atmosphere.
During the workshop we’ll explore:
- creating the impression of glowing light
- working with warm and cool colours
- establishing the darker values of an evening scene
- simplifying buildings and background detail
- using edges and marks to create atmosphere
- deciding what the viewer really needs to see – and what can simply be suggested
When: Tuesday 20 October, 10am–12pm UK time
Where: Live on Zoom
Recording: Available within 24 hours, with access for at least 12 months
You’re welcome to paint along live, watch and make notes, or work from the recording at your own pace afterwards.
A particularly useful workshop if darker subjects or evening scenes have previously felt a little daunting.
