Morning glow – Online Art Workshops – draw along in real time

(7 customer reviews)

£16.00

I will be using Unison Colour Soft Pastels to create a woody pathway, a misty morning light and path. We will be exploring colour and techniques to help you capture trees and creating a glow and warmth. I’ll show you how I build up colours in layers along with my favourite techniques with liquid and soft pastel. This workshop can be bought as an individual session or part of my discounted, Autumn Series.

Description

My morning glow soft pastel workshop is the second in my Autumn Series of workshops and a great way of learning more about trees, colour, misty light and perspective. If you haven’t booked your space already you can join the Live session on 20th September at 10am -12 UK time or you can access as a recording at a time and pace that suit you. The Live video and recording is hosted in a dedicated Facebook Group or you can access the recording in other formats, you prefer.

You can paint along and create Morning Glow Soft Pastel with me or just watch me and absorb the process to repeat at a later date. I suggest watching and drawing a second time, as it’s hard to do both things well, in my experience. I’m using ( approx 20 x 30 cm ) Fisher 400 (similar to Uart400) and Unison Colour pastels, learn more about the workshops here. You don’t have to use sanded papers but they make a huge difference to the vibrancy of your artwork when used with good quality pigments like Unison Colour.

When you buy the workshop, I will invite you to the Facebook Group via a link in the website receipt. If you are accessing it Live, the Facebook opens the day before the workshop. If it’s as a recording, the Facebook Group has the recorded video, bespoke colour chart and all the reference materials within the Facebook Group for you to access listed under “Announcements” within the Facebook Group.

Nina is a wonderful teacher, she picks subjects that are accessible to all levels of experience. Her warm style of teaching helps you to relax and encourages the student to try new techniques and develop their own style of pastel painting.

Nina is an excellent tutor. She is very enthusiastic and always ready to share the techniques, hints and tips from her experience. The workshop is well paced and it is great to have access to the video recording afterwards. There is a very positive workshop community and great to see the art work people post.

I am fairly new to pastels and thoroughly enjoyed this workshop. It’s great knowing its recorded so I can revisit it as often as I like!
Nina is very warm & enthusiastic … she demonstrates and explains everything so clearly as well as encouraging questions and interactions in the comments. No question is too silly!

Thank you, I appreciate your feedback. I do want the workshops to feel supportive and friendly, I’m glad that comes across. Plus all those top tips. Glad you are joining us for another workshop, see you there. Nina

I have taken part in many of Ninas courses first with Unison and now just with Nina but using more Unison pastels. I thoroughly enjoy them even though i have painted in pastel for over 30 years and sell my work worldwide via Ebay. I felt i lacked that extra intensity and sparkle with my paintings and was keen to use different techniques. Nina introduced me to fixing my work with alcohol and although i heard about it was relectant to try as i use Pastelmat. I shouldn’t of worried because it does allow me to capture that extra sparkle. Thank you Nina for showing me the way …I highly recommend your courses.

  6. Kay Tomlinson (verified owner)

I loved this workshop and learned an enormous amount. Highly recommended, whatever your skill level–I’m a relative beginner. I’ve taken several courses from her and I keep coming back.

Nina’s enthusiasm for her work is infectious–her workshops are fun (even at 4 in the morning, my time) as well as instructive. The ability to watch her work and explain in real time what she’s doing and why, and to ask questions in the moment, is great. Once the workshop is over, watching the video again (and again!) lets me “paint along” but at my own pace and pick up on things I missed the first time through. Nina is super supportive in the group afterwards as we students learn from each other and from her comments and responses to questions we have.

My favorite thing about Nina, though, is that she encourages us to develop on our own–to try new things, to figure out what works for us and what doesn’t, and develop our own style. And always, she’s there to encourage us and to answer questions. Cannot recommend these workshops highly enough.

Thank you, Kay, especially as you are joining so early! 4am takes some doing! I appreciate your enthusiasm too, and I am loving watching your style develop and seeing your artistic voice flourish. Happy pastelling till next time. Nina

  7. Jilly Hookham-Bassett

Nina’s workshops are inspirational, she has such an infectious enthusiasm it makes you want to pastel all day if you have the opportunity. There is never any pressure and support is always available from Nina, along with fellow students that share their work.
My eyes have been opened on the way I see the world about me .
Give them a go it is so mindful and worth every penny.
