As we move into the longer evenings, I’m looking forward to my Evening Light workshop. it’s a chance to slow down and explore those moments when light transforms the scene.

Evening light in a Sketchbook – soft pastel 2026.
During our hour together, I will take you through my own process — from the first sketchbook studies through to a more resolved pastel sketch — so you can see how I simplify the scene, choose colour, and build the feeling of evening light step by step. This is a recording of a Live session to give you a taster of the online sessions. They are edited to focus on the important elements but there’s always a few quirky camera moments or tech hiccup to keep me on my toes and you all entertained.
This session is designed to help you loosen up, simplify what you see, and focus on capturing atmosphere rather than detail. It’s the perfect way to reconnect with your painting and enjoy the process, whether you’re joining live or working from the recording in your own time.
Looking a little further ahead, I’m currently creating my Autumn workshop series, which will be launching later this summer. These sessions will build on some of the ideas we touch on in the evening light workshop, developing confidence, finding your own interpretation, and creating work that feels personal and expressive. The most important part, they encourage a developing art practice.
