Italian cafe in soft pastel workshop

Just a reminder—our Italian Café session will be pre-recorded and available as a video recording on my website from Tuesday, 11th March. That’s because I’ll be teaching at St Ives School of Painting—still a dream come true! It’s steeped in creative history, I loved visiting whilst I was a student at Falmouth University. Now, being part of the visiting tutors’ team and sharing my love of soft pastel painting (with my Unison Colour pastels, of course!) is incredibly inspiring. I’ll be full of Cornish pasties and inspiration. Rather than delay the session, I wanted to make sure you still had a workshop to enjoy while I’m away. You can paint along with me or just watch me and absorb the process to repeat at a later date. I suggest watching and drawing a second time, as it’s hard to do both things well, in my experience. I’m using ( approx 20 x 30 cm ) Uart 400 but you can use Pastelmat for a similar effect and Unison Colour pastels, learn more about the workshops here. You don’t have to use sanded papers but they make a huge difference to the vibrancy of your artwork when used with good quality pigments like Unison Colour.
