Setting Sail on a Creative Journey: Nina Squire’s Online Pastel Workshops**

I’d like to share a little from my world of pastel online art workshops. From my corner of Dorset, I work with artists from all over the world but it feels like a friendly group who all know each other.

Recently, students from far and wide joined me, exploring the beauty of a Marina Sunset. I’d love to share some feedback with you, to let you eavesdrop on their experiences and see how pastels can transform a regular day into a memorable, creative and restorative adventure.

**1. Unleashing Creativity with Loose Markings:**

One participant excitedly shared, *”I really enjoyed this workshop. Thank you so much, Nina. I tried hard to make the markings loose, not sure I’ve fully achieved it. I loved your technique for drawing the masts, Nina. Worked brilliantly!”* I love to hearing about creative journey of exploration, where students learn to embrace the freedom of loose markings, developing individuality and finding their artistic voice. My online workshops are a safe place to share that journey and gain support from me but also importantly, fellow students.

**2. Mastering Techniques:**

Another artist expressed thanks, saying, *”Thank you, Nina, for another fabulous challenge. I need to practice boats! I also wish I’d done the water in front of the boats last as dark dust was falling, so it was a challenge to keep clean, but that’s me all over – my room is now a challenge to tidy up.”* My workshops not only unravel the secrets of techniques but also share practical tips, if you work from the top downwards, you find that the colours rarely muddy. Although with pastel, you can alway relax knowing that any mistake can easily be removed and clean up is easy.

**3. Embracing Challenges and Celebrating Progress:**

Creating art is not without its challenges, as one participant admitted, *”It has been a while since I got the chance to attend a workshop. Thank you, Nina Squire – the pastel artist, I had a brilliant and relaxing time this morning.”* My artwork shops help you learn skills but equally important is the ability for art to transport you to a relaxing place.

**4. Transformative Learning:**

My workshops aren’t just about art; they’re about transformation. As one attendee beautifully put it, *”Well, that was loads more enjoyable than I thought it would be….the tree became a small part of the whole workshop in the end, and I really enjoyed the foreground!! Now to practice on my own trees!! Thanks, Nina.”* My workshops are more than just an image we explore themes and techniques around a subject. If you’ve ever looked at landscape and thought, where do I start, my workshops give you a tool kit to tackle that and a variety of subjects.

**5. Joyful Escape and Unexpected Surprises:**

In the midst of creativity, there’s always room for a little chaos and a lot of joy. A participant shared, *”Just what I needed today, I got rid of my headache, have green pastel dust on my phone, fingers, and nose… great workshop! Thank you, Nina 😘.”

* My workshops not only serve as a creative outlet but also as a joyful escape from daily life, leaving participants with unexpected surprises and creative memories.

We share artistic wisdom and also enjoy our online art community and the support that provides. Each stroke, each smudge, and every shared smile during my workshops echos the spirit of camaraderie and a passion for art. So, if you find yourself drawn to the allure of pastels, the calming presence of the sea, and the adventure of exploration, why not join us online and try marina sunset? Let your creativity set sail.
